zink imaging
Do you have a camera phone? Do you use it to take pictures? What do you do with them after you’ve taken them?
I know I don’t take pictures with my phone other than in emergencies. And one of the reasons is that I don’t really know what to do with them once I have them. The current printing technology is just too cumbersome.
This is where zink imaging comes in. Or Zero Ink, as it allegedly stands for. Instead of having ribbon or ink cartridges they have embedded the color pigment straight in the paper. Then they have a Bluetooth enabled printer about the size of a small hard drive that actually prints really nice looking pictures.
I am really impressed. The paper is water proof, doesn’t tear and the resolution is really good. The saturation might not fit in an art gallery, and the paper is not glossy, but as a modern version of the Polaroid picture it looks fantastic. I cannot wait until it becomes available.
